The Rooted Element strives to encourage people to connect with their self, nature and community.
Maxine has a lifelong vision of bringing people together through yoga and hike. Rooted in rural Nova Scotia, Maxine loves being outside and experiencing all the elements mother nature has to offer.
When you attend a class with Maxine, you can expect to flow through asanas in tune with breath, a guided meditation and pranayama practice. Maxine is deeply inspired by nature and weaves elements of the season into the class.
Maxine is passionate about making yoga accessible. While she doesn't teach specialty classes, she is keen on helping students address any ailments through modifications and props.
Maxine's study and practice of yoga spanned 20 years. Upon reading an article in a teen magazine on "yoga poses that help ease period cramps", Maxine started practicing yoga at age 14. Curious to know more, Maxine initially drew on resources at the local library and bookstore to learn about origins and philosophy of yoga tradition.
Maxine teaches group classes as well as private lessons to help students navigate their own personal practice. Most classes will be level 1-2 with anticipation of adding level 3 into the mix in 2023. Maxine is also a Certified Hike Leader with Outdoor Council of Canada and looks forward to combining both hiking and yoga adventures with students.
Maxine is a RYT200 Yoga Teacher and has Field Leader Certification from Outdoor Council of Canada in Hiking and Winter modules.
